Litter News

Every day we see articles about littering in the news, most notably cigarette litter because it causes fires. Each day I receive a list of articles regarding these incidents and will be posting them to make the point that discarded cigarette butts pose more of a threat than just their unsightliness.

LitterButt has also received it's fair share of press including articles in the Philadelphia Inquirer, Wall Street Journal, USA Today and even mention on Good Morning America. These items will also be posted.

Litter makes our community look uncaring

“Human society sustains itself by transforming nature into garbage.” - Mason Cooley The average American produces more than four pounds of trash every day from packaging and envelopes to plastic silverware and Styrofoam plates, and apparently a lot of those people in our area drop that trash on the highway instead of in a proper receptacle. Large debris such as couches, mattresses, tires, broken tables and refrigerators sit on vacant lots alongside various unidentifiable plastic junk. The garbage piles up for weeks or months or longer.
